"Instinct" is an art book showcasing a series of 2016/17 drawings from artist Brigitte Waldach. The originals were created in graphite on handmade paper in 56x38cm format. To convert these art-pieces into a book Metapaper EXTRAROUGH Warmwhite 175gsm was selected while a unique top-edge, rather than the conventional left-edge, binding was adopted to reflect a ‘sketchpad’ style. Red glue, red open-thread stitching and a red textile rubber band to bind the book together further reinforced the uniqueness of the finished product – the use of red also reflecting an almost ‘trademark’ look for the artist who frequently uses “a red thread” as an accent in her space-dimensioning installations. Last but not least, the inside cover pages were also coloured in the same red. The cover was produced using Metapaper EXTRASMOOTH White 350gsm with a scratch-resistant matt-lamination applied after printing. A total of 400 copies were published by DISTANZ Verlag, Berlin.
