Black doesn’t get any deeper than this: With its new BLACK brochure, Metapaper showcases what’s possible on the blackest paper on the market. The focus is on Thomas Biasotto’s “24 hours@the Subway” series: 24 hours in the New York subway, without ever emerging into the daylight.

Printed using LE UV offset with two layers of opaque white, silver, spot CMYK, and four layers of black, the images on Metapaper BLACK reveal a striking depth. The cover image was laser-engraved onto the cover. Cuts of varying depths modulate the motif, and a blank page made of Heavymetal Silver behind it makes it glow.

The paper itself is impressive across the board: deepest black for all printing processes, scratch-resistant, ideal for embossing and hot foil stamping, and made from 100% factory waste. A project that demonstrates what happens when a print shop, laser, bookbindery, and design team work together in perfect harmony.
