Digital Finishing

Your individual varnish, your individual foil

Digital finishing allows you to apply individual treatments to individual print project – in other words, make every product completely unique. Foil and varnish are traditionally the most commonly used finishing techniques. Foli and varnish can be applied as a partial effect or as a spot-varnish to highlight specific details. Applying the varnish is the first step in the finishing process. The varnish is transparent, taking on the color of the under-print. This means a blue varnish is created by varnishing on top of blue! The under-printed color also helps to ensure the varnish retains sharp edge on the paper. To apply a custom foil, a varnish is laid down and the foil laid on top and adhering to the surface. We also recommend under-printing once under the coating. Until now, it was only coated papers such as EXTRAMATT RECYCLING that could be processed on digital finishing machines (Scodix, MGI, etc.). Today with ROUGH DELUXE, the first surface-treated uncoated paper, you can now fulfill this requirement – and offer the maximum contrast between finishing technique and rough paper surface.
